The Step Height View mode is used to compute the distance between two distinct levels of a stepped surface.  A polyline region is defined on each surface.  A least squares plane is then computed for each region.  The differences between the computed planes is then reported.

Edit Region #2

Selecting this option places region #2 in edit mode.  Clicking the surface image when region #2 is in edit mode will add a polyline point to this region.
