The Dynamic View Mode is used to zoom, rotate, flip, and invert a surface. This is typically the most often used view mode because it allows you to select the region of interest on a surface. All calculations will take place on the region of the surface defined within the "zoomed" region, if enabled. This allows quick analysis of multiple regions of the surface by simply dragging the region box. |
|
New Surface |
Clicking the New Surface toolbar button will create a new surface from the "zoomed" region. If the zoom mode is not active, then a copy of the current surface will be created. |
Enable Zoom |
The zoom mode is enabled/disabled via the Enable Zoom toolbar button. When this mode is enabled, a rectangular zoom box is displayed indicating the currently "zoomed" region of the surface. Click and drag any corner or edge of this region to resize the zoomed region. Click and drag inside of this region to move the zoom location.
The zoom location is dynamically updated while resizing. For precise control over the zoom location refer to the Zoom Location controls below. |
Zoom Location |
The exact location of the zoom region can be selected by using the Samples, Length, or Percentage toolbar buttons. The Samples option will allow you to enter the zoom location by entering the number of rows and/or columns in the zoom region. The Length option will allow you to enter the location in engineering units. The Percentage option will allow you to enter the location as a percentage of the length of each side of the surface. |
Rotation |
The Rotate CW (Clockwise) and rotate CCW (Counter-clockwise) toolbar buttons will rotate the surface 90 degrees in the indicated direction. |
Inversion |
The "Flip along X axis" toolbar button inverts the surface data along the X axis. The "Flip along Y axis" toolbar button inverts the surface data along the Y axis. The "Flip along Z axis" toolbar button inverts the surface data along the Z axis. This is very useful when measuring a "negative" surface replica. |
